SYSTEMIC COUNSELING AND FAMILY THERAPY
ABOUT ME
While studying psychology, I discovered my preference for the systemic therapy approach and, after my Bachelor’s degree, completed three years of further training to become a systemic counselor and then to become an individual and family therapist (DGSF). Initially, I mainly provided online advice and was working in a counseling center providing psychosocial care for children and young people with parents suffering from mental illness and/or cancer (Psychosoziales Kompetenzentrum Wedel). Since December 2023 I have been welcoming my clients to the inviting rooms in Altona. I was born in Lübeck in 1988 and after working at the Kiel University Hospital (ICU nurse and medical studies from 2014 to 2019) and abroad (West Africa and South America), I ultimately moved to the outskirts of the wonderful Hanseatic city of Hamburg. I have been living here with my three children for six years now.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Please do not hesitate to contact me for further questions. I will be happy to help.
CAN THE COSTS BE BILLED THROUGH STATUTORY HEALTH INSURANCE?
There is currently no possibility of ensuring that the costs are covered by statutory health insurance. However, this can also have advantages for you. Many clients welcome the fact that the data are not saved and, therefore, cannot be traced later. Among other things, (prospective) civil servants appreciate this fact.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE INITIAL CONSULTATION?
The initial consultation usually takes place by appointment by telephone and is free of charge and non-binding. It helps us get a first impression of each other, as the relationship between client and therapist can have a significant impact on the success of counseling or therapy. We will also clarify what concern brought you to me and what steps you may have already taken. If we then decide that we can imagine working together, we will arrange an appointment for a first meeting. The initial consultation usually takes around 30 minutes.
HOW LONG DOES SYSTEMIC THERAPY OR COUNSELING TAKE?
We can agree on an approximate framework for the counseling/therapy sessions during the initial consultation. I usually expect three to eight appointments for individual, couple and family discussions, the intervals of which we can discuss individually. At the beginning, it is often a case of more frequent intervals of one to two weeks, which can eventually expand to discussions every three to four weeks. Systemic counseling and therapy is solution-oriented and can often be successfully completed after just a few sessions.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO CANCEL AN APPOINTMENT?
There can always be good reasons for canceling appointments. You can send me an email or reach me by phone. I will come back to you as soon as I can. All cancellations up to 48 hours before the appointment are free of charge. If you cancel within 48 hours of the appointment, you will be fully charged for the session. However, if I can reschedule the appointment at short notice, the costs will be waived. Couple and family therapies are generally not covered by statutory health insurance companies and are, therefore, always private services.
BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT
Since the practice does not have a designated waiting area and I do not want to interrupt ongoing sessions, I ask you to ring the bell not earlier than five minutes before your appointment. I ask you to ring the bell a maximum of five minutes before your appointment. I will let you in as soon as possible.
IS SYSTEMIC THERAPY SUBJECT TO CONFIDENTIALITY?
Both systemic advice and therapy are, of course, subject to confidentiality and personal information will not be passed on to third parties without your explicit consent.
